Blizzard officially announced their latest project: Diablo 3. After showing off a short teaser unveiling the game, co-founder Mike Morhaime brought up Diablo 3 lead designer Jay Wilson, who gave the crowd a 20-minute demo of Diablo 3 in action.
The Diablo 3 demo, which showed that Diablo 3 will use a 3D isometric view, included a look at the Diablo 3’s new classes Barbarian and Witch Doctor, talk of destructible environments. The announcement ends a week of massive speculation throughout the online gaming community, who'd focused on a teaser image at the official Worldwide Invitational site through the week.
Diablo 3 picks up the story twenty years after the events of Diablo 2. Mephisto, Diablo, and Baal have been defeated, but the Worldstone, which once shielded the inhabitants of the world of Sanctuary from the forces of both Heaven and Hell, has been destroyed, and evil once again stirs in Tristram. Playing as a hero from one of five distinct character classes in the world of Diablo 3, players will acquire powerful items, spells, and abilities as they explore new and familiar areas of Sanctuary and battle hordes of demons to safeguard the world from the horrors that have arisen.
But we might have to wait for some months or even years until Diablo 3 can be released, “It’s too early to estimate Diablo 3’s release date. As with all Blizzard Entertainment games, our goal is to create a game that is as fun, balanced, and polished as possible. We intend to take as much time developing Diablo 3 as is necessary to ensure the game meets our own high expectations and those of our players.”
